Privacy Policy for Chillventory
Chillventory is a freezer inventory management app developed by Comciencia Informática SpA, Chile.
1. Data Collection
Chillventory is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your inventory data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. The only data leaving your device is the anonymous purchase data described in Section 5 and the product lookups described in Section 4.
2. No Account Required
Chillventory does not require you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal information.
3. Camera and Photo Access
Chillventory may request access to your device's camera and photo library solely to allow you to attach photos to freezer items and to scan product barcodes. Photos are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to any server.
4. Barcode Scanning and Open Food Facts
When you scan a product barcode, Chillventory queries the Open Food Facts database (world.openfoodfacts.org) to retrieve product information. This request includes only the barcode number — no personal data is transmitted. Open Food Facts is an independent non-profit project. Their privacy policy is available at the Open Food Facts Privacy Policy.
If you choose to contribute a missing product to the Open Food Facts database, the product information and photo you submit will be published publicly under the Open Food Facts open data license. No personal information is included in this submission other than what you enter in the product form.
5. In-App Purchases
Chillventory offers optional Premium features via one-time in-app purchases. Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) under their respective terms and privacy policies.
To validate purchases and manage Premium entitlements, Chillventory uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., San Francisco, USA) as a service provider. RevenueCat receives purchase receipt data, transaction history, and a randomly generated anonymous identifier. This data is not linked to your identity, is not used for advertising or tracking purposes, and is stored on servers located in the United States. For details, see the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Comciencia Informática SpA does not receive or store any payment information, such as credit card details.
6. Translation Services
When displaying product names retrieved from Open Food Facts, Chillventory may use free third-party translation APIs (LibreTranslate, MyMemory) to translate product names into your preferred language. Only the product name text is transmitted — no personal data.
7. Notifications
If you enable stock alert notifications (Premium feature), these are generated entirely on your device and do not involve any external server.
8. Children's Privacy
Chillventory does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
